STYLE... ON MY OWN TERMS

When I get dressed, whether that be in the morning or just before an event, I am very much conscious of the fact that people will always have something to say. With that in mind, I always try to look as best as I think I can using the guy in the mirror as my critic. He can be quite hard on me, I tell you. Being the self conscious person I am more than happy to admit that I am, the one question I always ask myself is; are you happy? I used to be part of the league of liars who say they don't care what people think, but trust me we all do. What's the point of so much effort otherwise? Yes, getting compliments is always nice, I admit, but I won't smash my face against the wall if I don't get any.
Anyway. When I went to visit my designer friend Abiah Superstar to borrow clothes from his and my other bud Brad Muttitt's Amen Couture rail, the outfit I wanted to wear came together in less than ten minutes. Gold print leggings, cropped jacket, bead neckpiece... the black poloneck only later became part of the ensemble after I decided the PVC vest I had would be a bit over the top (for my liking)! I liked this look very much because it worked perfectly with my taste for the androgynous. For some the outfit seemed too "out there"- unfortunately, there's no mobile app to update the software in human brains. For some, as one Facebook friend stated, it came across as safe in comparison to what is out there in terms of experimental dressing. This here though was no experiment, neither was it a concerted effort to get people talking. It's what felt good to me. I love to glam it up, sometimes, and the Red Carpert themed Revlon party was the perfect opportunity to do so... on my own terms!

Firstly In my honest opinion no matter how confident one is I think subconsciencsly they care a tiny bit what people hav to say.and that's why we make necessary efforts to look relatively decent..
